Bike Rodeo combines safety and fun for Redwood area kids

A Bike Rodeo will be held for kids of all ages on June 5, 2012 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the north parking lot at the Redwood Area Community Center. The civic arena will be available in case of rain.

This free event includes bike and helmet safety information, bike tune-ups, and obstacle courses. A food stand will also be available by Girl Scout Troop #30091.

“This year the event will feature new obstacle courses with some fun challenges for the kids,” saidWendy Dahl, Redwood Area Hospital education manager. “These activities are great opportunity to reinforce safe biking practice in a fun environment.”

Helmets are required to participate in the bike rodeo. This year smaller sized bike helmets will be given away while supplies last. Older kids are asked to bring their bike helmets from previous years. The rodeo will include helmet fittings and a helmet decorating station.

Each child that participates in the rodeo is eligible to win one prize, including girls and boys 16-inch, 20-inch and 24-inch bikes, and bike accessories. Participants must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

The event is sponsored by Monsanto, North Memorial Ambulance, Redwood Area Community Center, Redwood Area Hospital, Redwood Falls Lions Club, Redwood Falls Police Department, Redwood County Public Health, and RedBrownVille Farm Safety for Just Kids.
