What does integrative care mean? Integrative care is an approach to healthcare that is healing oriented versus strictly focused on cure. This holistic view takes into account that people are complex beings. Each individual possess their own intrinsic ability to heal when conditions allow. Integrative care is based on the importance of creating partnerships between patients and providers in order to address the full range of physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental influences that affect a person’s health. This process enhances the ability for people to heal and most importantly, to stay well.
The Redwood Area Hospital embraces this approach to healthcare delivery. We are looking at new ways to empower our patients in their health and healing process. Our StrongYou service line is a key component. The mission of StrongYou is to “Empower people to build healthy habits, develop their full potential and lead strong lives.” StrongYou embraces the many aspects of human health as shown in our StrongYou circle of wellness. These aspects include social, occupational, environmental, emotional, intellectual, financial, physical and spiritual. Watch for future programming and community partnerships from us!
Another way that Redwood Area Hospital is empowering patients in their health is by offering complementary healing choices that are specific to each of our departments. Integrative Care menus will be available in departments such as Acute care, Infusion, Surgery, Radiology, Rehab and Home Care/Hospice. Patients can choose services that aid in their healing process. Some options include music, warm blankets, guided imagery, breath work, hand massage, and essential oils.
For more information on StrongYou and Integrative Care come visit us at the StrongYou Health Expo on October 5th from 2 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Redwood Area Community Center. Our staff will be available to provide additional information. We look forward to connecting with you!
