Dr. Joanne Monterroso studied medicine at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. She completed her residency at Michigan State University-Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies. She then completed a Hematology Oncology fellowship at Fletcher Allen Health Care, University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.
She is fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Monterroso is an associate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. She is trained in hematology, the study of blood, and oncology, the study of cancer.
Dr. Monterroso comes to ACMC in Redwood Falls on Wednesdays to meet with patients.
