As spring finally arrives, we are likely feeling reinvigorated and excited to get out and moving. Our motivation to get fit for the summer drives us to start something new. Strong You is committed to helping you keep the momentum alive right into the summer. Here are some tips to get you going and keep you going!
Listen or read to positive and motivational books, podcasts, articles or blogs to help your mind stay in tune with your goals. The number one reason why people lose sight on their goals or stop doing something is letting your mind stray away from the end point with negativity. We are our number one critics. Keep your thoughts positive, uplifted and focused to help push yourself through the hard stuff.
Plan your meals. Pre-planning and prepping your meals weekly will save you time and effort throughout your week. It helps hold you accountable and it makes it easy to grab a healthy snack instead of something that is not. It will also help your loved ones and family members see ahead at the week and keep you on track. Meal planning does not have to be long and strenuous, find a couple healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, prep them on Sunday before and always factor in left overs, you will crush your healthy eating goal for that week.
Stick to your exercise routine. Now this one can be hard but remember what we talked about earlier: positive minds. Your body will go where your mind lets it. Meaning, if your mind pushes it and stays disciplined, your body will get you through the workout. Make a calendar, write down your workout for the next day, track your progress and pick an end goal or reward to keep you motivated. Staying on track with your fitness will also keep the other areas in your life moving in a positive direction as well.
Find a partner or fitness group – Another great way to hold you accountable to your health goals is to join or recruit a friend/group. Ask your friend to join you in a morning or evening walk. Recruit local runners in the area and start a group. Use social media and share your journey and you might be surprised, it may also influence others.
We are all anxious for spring and the beautiful days ahead and these beautiful days are the perfect fuel to get moving! Set your intentions, write your goals, meal plan, exercise and utilize support systems to keep the momentum moving forward. The overall reward will be when you put those summer clothes on and smile, because you know you did it.
