Career Observation Experience
Career observation allows individuals the opportunity to learn more about a specific healthcare career through observation and discussions with a professional working in the field. Experiences may be limited due to the nature of the activities in some areas. Career observation is generally for short periods of time; one day or less. Redwood Area Hospital has the right to approve, limit or deny career observation experiences.
If you are interested in applying:
Secondary and post-secondary students may be required to complete career observation experiences as part of a class or formal program of study. Observation experiences allow individuals the opportunity to learn and observe a specific healthcare career over an extended period of time. With the assistance of a preceptor, individuals may have some limited “hands-on” demonstration opportunities but will not provide any direct hands-on care to patients. The hospital generally limits observation experiences to a maximum of 40 hours.
As part of our commitment to the community, Redwood Area Hospital works cooperatively with colleges and students to provide a variety of internship opportunities. Paid and unpaid internship opportunities are posted when a position is available, including our Summer Health Care Internship Program and Summer Nursing Intern Program.
Arrangements for completing a clinical internship at Redwood Area Hospital are coordinated between the clinical instructors and the manager of the department. Department managers work directly with clinical instructors to determine if our facility is able to provide the scope and/or volume of experiences necessary to complete the educational requirements of their specific program.
